A recent yearly survey was conducted to find the world’s most fashionable city and its results ranked New York at the topmost position, whereas Mumbai occupied the 22nd and New Delhi the 24th slot. Winner New York has been occupying the topmost rank for five years now.
Other cities such as Rome, Paris, Milan, London, Los Angeles, Sydney, Las Vegas, Berlin and Tokyo trail New York in the top 10. Mumbai, infact, occupied the 18th slot the previous year in the survey and so has slipped down four places this time.
New Delhi, on the other hand, witnessed a first time entry into the top 25 category as per the Global Language Monitor’s (GLM) annual survey. ‘Our yearly rankings clearly reinforce recent trends: the Big Five (New York, Rome, Paris, Milan, and London), far and away dominate the world of fashion, especially in the eyes of the print and electronic media, as well as on Internet,’ stated Millie Lorenzo Payack, a director of the Global Language Monitor.
